Love Stories
For the start of our Christmas here at Hornington, the wedding barn and house looking super festive with lots of Christmas trees and Garlands, we welcome Chris and Vicki “aka the most excited groom and emotional bride ever”. This weekend could not have come around quick enough for our lovely family and they were all determined to enjoy every second with so many friends and family.
On a bright crisp cold December day, the preparations begin to get everyone ready for church on time. The bridesmaids looked pretty in their dusky blue dresses and fur shawls, but Vicki stole the show looking exquisite in her lace gown, fur shawl and thirties style diamante headpiece. With a vintage white Jag to take them to church, Vicki and her Dad arrived in style.
They all arrived back to Hornington Manor for mulled wine, bucks fizz and beers served in the Gallery. Vicki and Chris did an amazing job of designing and planning how they wanted the weekend to be. The wedding barn looked truly stunning and elegant. Amazing centrepieces adorned the tables, with white, pink, and gree hanging tealights, finished with festive runners, foliage and pine cones. Bride and Groom has ceramic baubles made for their favours, reading ‘With love from the Carlisles’. The cake was outstanding, and a little nod to the fun personality of our joyus couple.
Vicki’s dad Dennis spoke beautifully about how Vicky is the perfect daughter. That special moment when you see them for the first time in their wedding dress and escort them down the aisle. He has a wonderful family and the joy he felt coming home after work to his girls will stay with him forever as would today.
Vicki had given him a little card with a few words about how special he is to her and how much he made her feel proud to be herself. She wrote that he has always been the rock to stand and shelter under in a storm. Dennis said that he always keep this card with him 24/7 but it is especially important today on her wedding day. Dennis spoke of the first time he met Chris 5 years ago who he describes as genuine, trustworthy and caring and more importantly, who truly loves his daughter so much.
Vicki’s speech was so emotional with Chris supporting her throughout. She spoke of her parents who have made her what she is today. “Your relationship showed me what I deserve and never thought I would find, until I met Chris”.
Vicki thanked her new Father and late Mum in law, Tony and Jan, for letting her and Ida be a part of their family. She spoke of how proud she is to be a step mum to two wonderful young men Quinn and Ben.
Chris made a heartfelt and tearful, thank you speech to his Mum, who sadly passed away only 11 months ago and Dad who has always been there for him. Chris is so honoured to have two wonderful sons and delighted to see them looking so smart. He was so pleased his Mum Jan was a big part in the preparations leading up to the big day and remembers when she shed a little tear when she saw the boys trying on their suits for the first time.
He presented his new stepdaughter Ida and the flower girls a special present and told everyone how proud he is that Ida was adding “Carlisle” to her name, she had assured him that it was to make us all “One big Happy Wonderful family”. “I am the luckiest and happiest man on the planet and we’ve finally all got our happily ever after”.
Best man who Chris nicknamed “Sloth”, is married to Chris’s sister Gemma. They have been best mates for 18 yrs. He spoke of the fun that they all had with neighbouring caravans which was useful when they run out of “bog roll and Beer”. He spoke of Chris the family man, absolute chaos now there is five of them, but can see how much he loves his family now complete with Quinn, Ben, Ida and Vicki.
A magician had everyone in awe with his wonderful tricks, especially Ida and her new brothers. Our happy bride and groom started the evening celebrations off with their First dance – “Shut up and dance with me”.
