Love Stories

On a beautifully bright and crisp day in January, our wonderful Bride and Groom, Anna and Jamie, said their vows at the stunning St Edwards Catholic Church at Clifford. Anna was breath taking in her A-line gown finished with glittering diamante waist band. Her bouquet was made up of raspberry coloured Roses, Rosemary for remembrance, and Anemone associated with the story of the lovers Aphrodite and Adonis. During the ceremony, guests joined in with the Hymns which included ‘I Watch the Sunrise’ which is a Christian message of reflection, Peace and Faith.

Once back at Hornington, guests enjoyed prosecco and bottles of beer in the Gallery which was decorated with twinkling lights and stacked wooden crates topped with candles. In the corner sat a stunning wooden beer barrel which had been lovingly repurposed into a card and gift deposit by Jamie. The inscription read ‘Friends and family, Hugs and kisses, Here’s the place to deposit your wishes, If they fit just pop them in or lift the lid and leave within.’

Miss Fantwistic, the children’s’ entertainer was kept very busy with the 18 children that were enjoying Jamie and Anna’s wedding day. She made them all fairy wings and ghost busting power packs from balloons, which was a constant source of fun!

It was soon time for the speeches and guests made their way to the Wedding Barn which looked incredible. The fabulously talented Jamie had been very busy and also made the brilliant room plan, with tables named after destinations he and his Bride had visited on their world travels. Antique gold candelabras sat on the tables which were surrounded with the most delicious Yorkshire sharing platters curtesy of Hog and Apple.

Their rustic woodland cake was a masterpiece and was the work of Jamie’s mum. It looked perfectly at home against the green foliage wall in the wedding barn.

A toast was raised for Anna’s Grandma, whose wish was to buy Anna’s beautiful wedding gown, but sadly is no longer with them to enjoy seeing her Granddaughter wear it on her special day.

Mike, Anna’s Dad was very clearly the proudest man in the room when he took the microphone to make his speech. He turned to Anna and gushed at how fantastic she looked. Mike’s speech was beautiful and heartfelt, speaking about the wonderful family he has around him today. Mike was adopted as a child by his fabulous Mum and Dad, and he remembered when Anna was born and he held her in his arms, he realised that she was the first person he had ever known that was directly related to him.

Our Groom’s speech was hilarious and kept everyone laughing with his anecdotes about his siblings, Tom, Ben and Sam, who were also his three Best Men. Jamie welcomed guests from France, Germany, Scotland and Blackpool. The race had been on for who would be the next Higginbottom, Anna or his very heavily pregnant sister in law, who held off giving birth to let Anna win.

When the Best Men took to the microphone, they presented the room with a life size cut out of Super Jim (Jamie) in a mankini, curtesy of the stag-do in Belgium, so that all the guests can have a selfie with him throughout the evening!

The evening was just wonderful, with the First ‘Song’ (as Anna worried she would never get Jamie on the dance floor if she called it a ‘First Dance’) was to Elton John’s Tiny Dancer, performed by their band Vibetown. Mimi events set up their wonderful Magic Mirror photobooth, and their photographer Joe Stenson captured the whole day perfectly.

As Anna and Jamie left for their Honeymoon in Bali after a wonderful weekend of celebrations, Baby Alfie was born on Monday morning 28/1/2019, which was a perfect ending to a perfect family wedding.

Congratulations Mr and Mrs Higginbottom, thank you for letting us share your perfect day!
