Love Stories

Winter is such a beautiful season for weddings, especially when you are as committed to creating a breathtaking Winter Wonderland as Jodie and Rob were. Not a single inch of the barn was without sparkle!

Behind the top table sat a white curtain of twinkly lights. Spotlights shone down on each table, uplighters illuminated the walls, and projections of snowflakes were displayed all around the barn.

Table centerpieces were white winter trees with dangling crystals and glass candle holders, sitting on  mirrored boards. Jodie created these centerpieces herself and if you love them as much as we do, she is selling them as complete sets. Please get in touch with us via enquiries@horningtonmanor.co.uk if you are interested.

The tables were scattered with crystals and the place card holders were silver pinecones. Jodie and Rob gifted each guest with spirit miniatures as favors, not forgetting the adorable personalised Polar Bear teddies and goodie bags for the children.

An enormous ornate gold mirror met guests as they entered and displayed the seating plan. Jodie and Rob’s cake was spectacular- the brief from Jodie to family friend Jane Langley was ‘Sparkle’, and it was definitely met! Diamantes, shimmering snowflakes and edible glitter dust ensured the 7-tiered masterpiece was dazzling!

Booth Revolution set up a photo booth on the mezzanine in the wedding barn, and last but not least, the band performing, including Jodie’s dad on the guitar, installed an incredible set up! A black twinkling backdrop to a stage filled with spotlights, speakers and a smoke machine! The barn was ready and raring to go!

Bride Jodie looked absolutely stunning in her fitted, lace gown with gorgeous veil and beautiful bouquet of white roses from Carol’s Florist. Her bridesmaids wore lovely warm grey gowns with white fur shawls, fitting in with the Winter Wonderland theme. Guests were taken to the ceremony at St Peter’s Church, Thorner, in vintage double decker buses from the Yorkshire Heritage Bus company, while Jodie and her Dad, Richard, were taken in a White Rolls Royce from Kings Wedding Cars.

Rob and his Groomsmen looked incredibly dapper! Navy suits with grey tartan waistcoats, cream satin cravats and grey top hats.

When the newly weds arrived back from church, they enjoyed prosecco and mixed beers in the Gallery while Martin Rose entertained on his guitar.

The fabulous Lissa Alexander captured the day beautifully, and videographer Ben Davis made sure every special moment was caught on film.

Friends 4 Dinner served a fantastic 3-course wedding breakfast of Seafood Risotto, Beef Daube with Dauphinoise and a Trio of Desserts including their amazing Chocolate Brownie! Magician Paul Lytton entertained the guests at their tables between courses. James Hey provided the beautiful background music on his Baby Grand Piano and also was DJ for the evening.

Jodie’s dad treated everyone to a couple of songs on his acoustic guitar. He sang an emotional section from ‘Perfect Day’ which was close to the family and brought back memories of Jodie being little. He then sang a brilliantly catchy song he had written himself for Jodie, and had everyone singing along with the chorus by the time he finished! It went a little like this-

‘Oh Jodie, she’s a jokster,

You’ll never beat her at poker.

But so be so naïve,

She’ll have 4 aces up her sleeve.’

Rob praised his wife Jodie for all her hard work in organizing the day. He revealed the only thing he organised was the buses to and from church, and seeing as everyone was at the reception, he had done ok! He thanked her for creating their dream wedding and described his Bride as his best friend, soul mate, and woman he wants to sped the rest of his life with.

Jodie too said a few words, and explained how the unconditional love of her parent’s marriage is her model. To her husband Rob, she thanked him for changing her life, for putting up with her strops and tantrums and for saving her from spiders- a responsibility inherited from Jodie’s dad.

A fantastic night was had by all, with Jodie’s dad and his band keeping everyone up on their feet on the dancefloor. There was a fabulous party atmosphere and its clear to see Jodie and Rob are so loved amongst their family and friends.

Huge Congratulations to the new Mr and Mrs Grimwood, and we hope your day was a perfect as you imagined.
