We have over sixty species of wild birds here at Hornington Manor, with eleven of them being on the threatened species list, and it is safe to say they were all in full song to wake Emma and Lee’s wedding guests!

The rain had not stopped all week until thankfully the Saturday morning, which was perfect timing as the preparations had well and truly begun. Everyone was busy getting ready, and ensuring everyone was perfect before they made their way to the church for the wonderful wedding ceremony.

The ceremony was held at 11.30 am at Bolton Percy All saints church with Geoff Mumford addressing the congregation in celebration of our lovely couple. The Bolton Percy is a popular church with our couples as it is only a short distance from Hornington Manor and provides a lovely setting to say vows in.

After the ceremony had taken place the happily married couple, Emma and Lee arrived back at Hornington Manor in a special “Love TukTuk” which was fabulous fun.

Unfortunately the heavens opened, but that did nothing to dampen the spirit of the happy crowd. Drinks and canapés were provided by the brilliant regulars, Hog and Apple which were served in the Hornington Gallery – the perfect place to escape the rain. To captivate the audience, Lee and his best men, Rhys and Ben conducted the speeches on the mezzanine floor, which brought plenty of laughter.

In Lee’s speech he remarked how amazing the bridesmaids Jen, Emma, Kerri and Lucille looked along with thanking Daniel, Lyn, Nancy and “most importantly Joseph” for the passages they had read in the church. He was full of thanks for the amazing job they did and told everyone how grateful the happy couple were for their contributions.

Lee also highlighted in his speech: “Thanks to Julie and others for donating their corks, but it’s a good job we come from families of winos!”  They had a five foot heart made entirely of corks from champagne and wine bottles which was made for the special day to commemorate the occasion.

“Thanks also to Jo and the staff here at Hornington, Ged and the guys at the Hog and Apple and all the people that have helped to make this day possible! Now the main person that has made this day possible is this girl here… She has worked tirelessly to make this weekend special for us all and (turning to Emma) you have done an amazing job. You look absolutely stunning today, and I truly feel like the luckiest man alive. You are the most thoughtful, loving, kind, beautiful person I have ever met, my huckleberry friend. And no matter where we drift, I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.”

Adam agreed to be the DJ, who was awesome in providing endless songs for the happy spirits in the room to dance to. Emma was struggling to dance with her beautiful gown but she didn’t let that get her down, we were able to stitch the back in a bustle style so that people didn’t stand on the train.

Everyone moved outside for a group photo and to bless the wedding with confetti made from Lavender, which was a wonderfully fragrant display to behold.

As dusk arrived we lit the fire pit so the party could enjoy some warm and intimate time together and everyone enjoyed toasting marshmallows outside with some popcorn.

After the wedding celebrations, Sunday followed, which was a glorious sunny day in stark contrast from the rain of the previous seven days. The guests decided to celebrate this glorious sunshine with a barbecue on the front lawn, whilst one of the friends serenaded the newlyweds with a saxophone.

A brilliant wedding and a wonderfully lovely couple, Emma & Lee, we wish them all the best for the future and thank you for choosing Hornington Manor!
