Of course all our weddings are different and we always love seeing the beautiful ways all the brides and grooms decorate the wedding barn, we are so amazed how each one is so unique and splendid.

Sarah and Mathew were no different. They had an arch of eucalyptus branches for the civil ceremony, which later matched the decorations on the individual tables, the room looked sensational.

Sarah and Mathew both work in London, but they preferred to have their special day in Yorkshire where their lovely parents live, and lucky for us we were chosen by them!

Sarah wore a beautiful gown as with the 5 bridesmaids, one of which was her sister Helen. They wore dresses of the delicate shade of grey. The bridesmaids also matched Sarah’s Mum who wore an elegant dress and jacket of a similar shade perfectly.

Mathew was waiting for his bride with both of his best men (who he later on during the reception named as Steve McDonald and Les Battersby).

The guests were entertained by Aurora Strings a professional string quartet playing the music Canon in D Pachelbel, everyone gasped at the beautiful bride as she approached to walk down the aisle.

The first reading ‘I Wanna Be Yours’ by John Cooper Clark was read by Connor Mcginty. The second reading ‘Dance Me To The End Of Love’ by the great Leonard Cohen was read beautifully by Maria Abiagom and Lucy Wilford.

A poem was also read which was written by Sarah’s talented friend Faye Johnson:

Sarah – Beauty, grace and elegance, when I look is what I see

But so much more than that, you mean, to Matt, to your family, to me

Matt  – a light, a star in all our lives, even though you may not know

A brother and a friend you are, come our happiness or our woe.

The part you play together, is the most significant to me

Friendship is our bond, my everything, my family

Through my eyes I see you clearly, the wonderful humans you have become,

Witnessing this joyful celebration is a blessing; a gift to everyone.

The world you mean to each other, and not a soul could ever deny

That belonging brought you together, a love, a knowing a tie.

No doubt does enter our minds, that this story will last forever.

From this day throughout all of time, whatever your endeavors.

On behalf of everyone here I speak the truth when I say

How proud we are and how much we love you on this your very special day.

The reception started with canapés and champagne in the Manor house, whilst the tables were being laid for the main meal. The wine was flowing and everyone was chatting excitedly. Lots of lovely children were playing together, with the little girls twirling around in their new dresses.

Michael, Sarah’s lovely dad made his speech and explained how his daughter wanted a “Rustic Wedding”, which he imagined was a bit like having in the Dingles back yard with the animals intermingling with the guests sat on bales of straw. He of course was delighted with the outcome.

His written speech was abandoned but he did a marvelous job alibiing which got everyone in the mood for the next speech.

A beautiful worded poem ‘Dance me to your beauty with a burning violin’ was also by a friend.

Matthew made his speech of how he met Sarah and the adventures they shared together and with friends talking of which it was now time to introduce the best men, Charlie Wagner and Alan Whaley (alias Steve McDonald and Les Batersby). The best man or in this case best men speeches are always entertaining and guaranteed to have everyone in stitches , lots of which are too risqué to mention but always great fun and always have their place at weddings.

The last speech was made by Mathew’s Dad who I think was dragged out of his seat by the groom and the best men, not at all prepared but what a good sport he was and appreciated by all, with his tales of Mathew growing up and the antics he got up to, he also got plenty of laughs.

The band Hot Biscuit took the guests into the late evening, with guests looking like they were having the time of their lives!

Letter wrote after the event from the bride’s Dad:

Hi Jo,

On behalf of everyone I would like to pass on our very grateful thanks for a tremendous three days at the Manor.

The wedding day itself was a total pleasure from start to finish and the continuous compliments from the guests that I received all day long, and since, all contained glowing references to the beautiful premises and the relaxed way in which they were presented. I’m sure you’ll agree that no matter how good something is, there is always someone who has a little niggle about something.  I can assure you that not a single niggle was heard from anyone, quite the opposite in fact.

I offer my personal thank you to both you and Simon for being so helpful, pleasant and friendly throughout our stay, which went a huge way to calming the inevitable stress!

Your mum is a lovely lady with a very comforting and gentle sense of humor which again all helped to settle the nerves in the house. Please pass on our thanks to her.

Kindest regards, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all.
