The lovely Marcos and Emma, and their fabulous Ava, had been planning their special day with us at Hornington for months and months, and we were so excited when they moved in for their weekend of celebrations. Their dream wedding barn vision came true with the help of the wonderful Wedding Venue Lighting Company who supplied a curtain of twinkling fairy lights to frame the dancefloor and strings of blub lights across the whole barn. The space was totally transformed and the barn looked fantastic. Each chair was dressed with a tiny string of bunting while the centrepieces were a mix of gypsophelia and pastel coloured flowers in jam jars. Marcos and Emma really made the most of the rustic nature of the barn and their decorations made it a beautiful setting for their celebrations.

Emma looked breath-taking in her princess style wedding dress with sweetheart neckline and her floor length veil.

Marcos’ Spanish heritage was truly felt throughout the wedding celebrations. Not only did he propose to Emma in Spain, (with an amazing ring he designed himself!) but many of the wedding guests had flown in especially from Spain, to celebrate their wonderful day. On their return from the church, guests enjoyed huge Kilner jars of authentic, fruit filled sangria on the front lawn. With the sun shining down and a glass of sangria in hand, our Spanish guest felt right at home!

The fabulous Lissa Alexandra was Marcos and Emma’s photographer. It was a pleasure to have Lissa back at Hornington and her photos have proven to be simply stunning.

Once the guests were seated, they were treated to the most delicious meal from Eat Me, Drink Me, who also provided all the table linen and napkins which was the backdrop to the fabulous food. For main course, one guest was selected from each table to serve the meal and donned an apron to perform their duties! Guests tucked into a trio of puddings before the speeches began.

Father of the bride Kevin managed to address the whole room with 3 words- ‘Hola, Orite, Ehy -up’! He told us how Emma went to school in Boston Spa, only a few miles down the road from Hornington, and went to Birmingham University which is where she and Marcos began their story. Kevin explained how Emma’s expensive taste had earned her the nickname ‘Princess Emma’, however this soon changed when she had to start paying for everything herself at uni!

Kevin shared how seeing Emma graduate, and seeing her on her wedding day are his two proudest moments. Kevin thanked the beautiful Ava for being so fantastic throughout the day and we learnt that she wants to be a fashion designer when she grows up, and even picked out the fabric for her bridesmaid dress herself! Emma’s Dad explained that from the day Emma met Marcos, he always put his daughter Ava first, and because of this, Kevin knows Marcos’s moral compass is the same as his, which is incredibly important to him.

Marcos took to the microphone and thanked Emma’s family for welcoming him in, and turning him into a social drinker and Chinese food lover! He also thanked them for allowing him to marry their intelligent, caring, and occasionally high maintenance daughter! Marcos gushed over his ‘littlest bridesmaid’ Ava. He thanked her for her amazing reading during the church ceremony and told us of the wonderful bond Emma and Ava had from the first day they met. He spoke on behalf of himself and his new wife in saying they both love Ava with all their hearts. Marcos thanked his Spanish family for helping him celebrate, in Spanish, which was a treat for the ears for all in attendance.

The guests partied into the evening with the help of The Fanatics band, who played some brilliant songs, and had everyone dancing! Evening food was provided by Big Red Oven who cooked up the most delicious wood fired pizzas which we were lucky enough to sample!

We all had the most wonderful time celebrating with Marcos and Emma, and it was clear to see their guests did too. Marcos, Emma and Ava are a beautiful family and we wish them all the happiness in the world.
