The beautiful bride and groom had travelled all the way from Australia, and gathered in beautiful Yorkshire with all their family and friends to celebrate the love for each other. The sun shone all day, which really put a smile on Kate and Richard’s guests.
The bride and groom decided to hold their ceremony outside, under the Manor’s Lych Gate. It had been beautifully decorated with flowers from Lily Knight Flowers. The ceremony was as lovely as expected, Katie manged to sum up her and Richard’s relationship perfectly through the reading she chose to read:

After the ceremony, the guests made their way to the front lawn where they feasted on a trio of canapes from regulars, Hog and Apple. They also sipped on our refreshing Pimms and lemonade, and a special selection of ice cold beers, which were definitely needed in the scorching sun!
Simon, our beloved bar manager and trusty in house photographer flew his drone over the party and took some fantastic photos of the group. The views from the drone were spectacular, and gave a unique perspective of the front lawn.
Guests found shade from the sunshine in the wedding barn which remained cool for the speeches and wedding breakfast. The barn, much like all our other barn weddings, was decorated beautifully. Kate and Richard picked the perfect day to bring the outside in using trees from Beardsworths Ltd and Whitehall Road Nurseries.
The best man delivered a hilarious speech and created a booklet named ‘Richard, A Life’ for the amusement of every table. The booklet showcased photo collages of some of Richard’s loves- Leeds Festival, the Selfie Stick and ‘#ShredtilWed’!
Guests enjoyed a feast lovingly prepared by the amazing Hog and Apple. We have worked with Jed and his team from Hog and Apple many times and they never fail to deliver with fantastic food. They are such lovely people and a pleasure to deal with for both us at Hornington and bride and groom alike.
On the menu for Kate and Richard, guests (and us) enjoyed antipasti grazing boards to start, with a sharing platter of rare breed free range pork, carved porcetta, pulled hog roast pork, belly pork crackling and a selection of summer sides which as you can imagine, tasted as delicious as is sounds!
For dessert, the party enjoyed Kate and Richard’s wedding cake which was a five tiered, iced white tower bursting with buttercream! It’s safe to say, we were very well fed that day!
Once food was enjoyed and speeches finished, it was time to hit the dance floor. The night was carried away with sounds from the brilliant band, Backbeat. They had everyone up on their feet, and everyone looked like they were having the time of their lives!
Guests needed to refuel after lots of dancing and luckily it was time for the evening food, prepared again by Jed and the Hog and Apple team. Keeping in theme with the English county wedding, on the menu was a Ploughman’s platter with Yorkshire cheese, pork pies, sausage rolls and fresh bread which was to die for. We managed to squeeze this in too, just!
What a fabulous day and night – filled with love, laughed and happiness. We’d like to wish the happy couple, Katie and Richard, the most amazing happily married life!
