Bex and James are both teachers from West Yorkshire. The period leading up to their wedding was very busy, preparing for half term as well as the end of year exams and a prom, so the couple must have been exhausted by the time their wedding weekend came around.

When Bex and James arrived on Saturday, they both looked a little overwhelmed but with family, friends and Loveday Floral Designs, the barn was soon transformed into a pretty picture, perfect for their wedding day on Sunday.

On the Saturday, they settled down for an afternoon on the front lawn and I dare say a few beers, whilst everyone put together food for the evening. It was a beautiful, sunny day and as more and more friends and family arrived, it was already proving to be a wonderful, relaxed wedding weekend for our lovely couple.

The following day, the couple married at our lovely local church in Bolton Percy. Bex’s dad admitted that there hadn’t been a dry eye in the church, including himself. His only daughter was looking more beautiful than he had thought possible, which understandably brought very proud emotions to all the family.

After the ceremony, everyone arrived back at Hornington Manor for a drinks reception on the front lawn. We served pimped up Prosecco and beer to the guests, with wonderful canapés made by Friends for Dinner, accompanied by Georgina Dee singing beautifully. Sarah Beth, the photographer, had a chance to get some fabulous, natural shots of the bride, groom and all of their guests enjoying the afternoon, with a wonderful backdrop of the Manor.

At 4pm, we revealed the wedding barn in the courtyard and everyone proceeded to take their seats for antipasti, which was followed by the hilarious speeches.

Bex and James met whilst at school. Bex moved away to go to university whilst James remained in Yorkshire and went to Leeds University. They decided to alternate visits, with Bex staying with James in Leeds one weekend, and him visiting her the following weekend. This continued for the duration of their time at university which must have been very difficult for them, but it clearly worked and cemented their relationship.

The groom had pre-arranged to use our projector and had organised to show all the guests a video of Bex from her student days. She had set up a video in her digs and was dancing. We saw the first ten takes but there must have been a lot more footage than what was shown on the screen. Embarrassing for our bride but it had us all in stitches and bought back memories of doing the same many, many years ago!!

The two best men made us giggle, telling tales about our sports mad groom and all his antics when he was a student. It was clear from the speeches and the day as a whole, that the couple were dearly loved and respected by all their friends and family.

The delicious cake from Miss Friday was cut and the evening celebrations began.

Silver Trailer Photo Booth provided more hilarity with everyone dressing up in feather boas and daft hats for an instant photo to take away as a momento of the evening.

The couple arranged for Pizza Loco to serve gorgeous oven fired pizzas in the evening, which were cooked in the courtyard.

Bex and James pre-selected all of their songs, and created their own disco using the sound system borrowed from their school – the perfect end to a perfect day.

At the end of the night, Bex gave me a cuddle and said she couldn’t wait to get ot her bed as they are ‘soo comfy’. She said she was on a mission to persuade James to buy a Harrison Spinks bed as a wedding treat!

It was an absolute pleasure to be part of Bex and James’ special day as they are such a lovely couple.
