Amy and James, also now known as Mr and Mrs Donald, currently live in Shanghai teaching but are originally from West Yorkshire and Surrey. They chose to celebrate their special day with us at Hornington Manor and what a wonderful weekend it was….
Amy and James arrived on Thursday to have a night together before all their guests arrived on Friday as they wanted to try three different bedrooms each of the evenings they spent at Hornington Manor.
The weather was horrific all week and Friday was no exception when their family and friends arrived from all over the globe.
Amy desperately wanted to get married outside and the civil ceremony was booked for 10.30am. We had a contingency plan that the ceremony could be held within the wedding barn but said a little prayer for the sun to be shining on Saturday morning. Our prayers were answered as it was brilliant sunshine and actually warm when I text Amy at 6am in the morning to say we are setting up outside, hooray!!
As the pictures show, Amy was delighted, and with the dulcet tones from Jacob, she walked down the aisle to James and say their vows. After the ceremony, it was drinks, canapes and photos on the front lawn.
Amy looked absolutely amazing with hair and makeup done by Julie and Sarah. The day was a huge success with the Best Singing Waiters surprising everyone bursting into song after serving the wonderful food prepared by Friends 4 Dinner. It was amazing and highly entertaining with Amy’s father getting up to do a number for his brown eyed girl.
The evening celebrations carried on with cocktails and DJ Ian keeping everyone on the dance floor – everyone said it was the most amazing venue they had ever been to.
With a long sleep in, a lovely country walk and film night on Sunday, the weekend came to an end. Hugs and kisses and a firm promise to keep the Manor free for them all to come back and celebrate their anniversary, we wave goodbye to a lovely couple setting out on the journey together as a newly married couple.
We received a lovely message from Amy and James in our visitors book after the wedding:
‘We have all had the most incredible weekend. The wedding went better than we ever imagined on Saturday and we are so happy we got to have our ceremony outside in the Yorkshire sunshine that came out for us. Thank you very much Jo and Simon for looking after us and ensuring everything ran smoothly. Please book us in for this weekend in 10 years time – we want to come back for our 10 year anniversary! We don’t want to leave this beautiful venue.’
