Spring, a day in March, turned out to be the most perfect day for our beautiful bride and groom. The weather was stunning, and all Nikki’s beautiful styling and creativity brought the wedding barn to life with her hand crafted name places and signs.

Nikki and Chris’s love of animals and the countryside was one of the reasons they chose Hornington for their wedding day which created the most fabulous backdrop for their beautiful wedding album.

After waiting and postponing for so long Rachel and Mark couldn’t wait any longer for their wedding day.

The love, devotion and sheer joy was clear to see on their faces throughout the whole day.

The girls look lovely in their pastel shades complimenting the beautiful flowers and Rachel’s gorgeous lace bridal gown.

Even our sheep get excited on wedding days. They love the attention and always look their best for the photos.

Alex had always had a clear vision of what her wedding day would be, even from a young age. Those nights spent dreaming about her ‘big day’ as a young girl meant that Alex and Jordan were able to create their perfect wedding day, and the team at Hornington Manor were honoured to be a part of it.

The story of Alex and Jordan starts as childhood sweethearts having met over 17 years ago. Even at the tender age of 13, Alex knew that she would marry Jordan. They have grown up together and followed their dreams together and it is clear for all to see the special bond they share.

The choice of a wedding on the 22nd came through a shared love of all things Christmas. Despite everything else to worry about (like planning a wedding) a short holiday to Lapland, just two weeks before they were due to get married, was in order. Just how Christmassy can a wedding be though? All you need to do is look at the reindeer-named tables (the top table was Santa Claus), the Christmas-themed table decorations with crackers, and know that the first dance was to Mariah Carey’s Christmas classic, ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You.’

Whilst the pandemic has taken so many things away from so many people, nothing was going to ruin the day for Alex and Jordan. The smiles on their faces and that of their family and friends were enough to brighten the grey December day.

Everyone at Hornington Manor was delighted to be part of Alex and Jordan’s wedding and we wish them a lifetime of happiness together, as well as many more amazing Christmas’ together.

Their love story started when Allana joined Chris’s Salsa dancing classes. The couple were clearly a match and the rest they say is history.

Their pictures tell the story of this couples dance through life, and what a lovely happy couple they make.

Chris’ Mum made the cake and Allana and Chris’s friend Ros decorated it, detailing their beloved cats Hattie and Snufkin, buttons, tape measure, zip, Chris’ school books/ crest, MTG symbols (Chris’ favourite card game) and the church stained glass.

It is always such a joy to be part of all the weddings here at Hornington Manor but it was a real privilege to be a part of Jamie, Stuarts and Ava’s special day.

Jamie is a nurse and the strength and courage she has shown nursing on the front line in the most dangerous and frightening days, it makes me proud to be a part of making their wedding day truly magical and no less than they deserved.

Jamie looked stunning and totally radiant  with her lovely calm personality.

Everything was planned at such short notice, a consequence to the pandemic but that didn’t phase them they even managed to organise some September Sunshine.

The wedding barn looked every bit a princess’s fairy tale dream, befitting of chief flower girl Ava.

Good catch boys!

Oh no they dropped the bride!!!!

Dads speech was heart warming about his sweet little girl growing into the tenacious lady she is today.

“Together we have riden horses through the mountains of Alcudia, fallen asleep listening to wild lions fighting on the plains of Savo East on safari, star gazed and spotted shooting stars in vast night skys whilst bobbing around on the Ionian sea, kept our cool together in a kayak whilst being circled by sharks in the Indian ocean of Wanamu Kenya. ”   “What a beautiful woman you have become, your inner beauty radiates through, but you will always be my little girl.”

Behind every great woman there is always a great team aka Stuart and Ava.

“Stuart is a credit to his parents, level headed, thoughtful and kind. He has become a fantastic father and I am sure will be a brilliant husband. These are the qualities of a real man.”

2020 has not been kind to a lot of people but for this little family Stuart is proud to now be able to officially call Jamie his wife and they will continue to make some more amazing family memories together.

Government restrictions certainly weren’t going to dampen any spirits for the beautiful wedding of Charlotte and Andy as they went ahead with their big day, albeit with a reduced number of guests. Testament to the hard work and planning of both bride and groom, the wedding was a splendid, intimate occasion with close acquainted family and friends gathering to make for the most cherished of days. The photos speak for themselves. Many congratulations to Charlotte and Andy for sticking through a tough planning process and one of the best celebrations at Hornington Manor this year. ut

Helen wore a stunning ever-so-slightly dusky pink, lightly embroidered lace gown with beautiful sparkles catching in the light. Paired with a beautiful delicate waistband and a full-length veil, it suited her perfectly and Helen looked every bit the beautiful bride. Her bridesmaids wore navy gowns with burgundy shawls, colours which tied in with their bouquets perfectly.

Helen made her way to the wedding barn, arm in arm with her Father Martin. It might have been raining, but it certainly didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits!

Helen met her Groom Pete, wearing a navy suit and coordinating burgundy tie and pocket square, underneath the flower archway and said ‘I Do’! A powerful reading by one of Helen’s bridesmaids was shared with us after the ceremony, and we have included it below-

‘Love is a temporary madness. It erupts like volcanoes and then subsides. And when it subsides, you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion, it is not the desire to mate every second minute of the day, it is not lying awake at night and imagining that he is kissing every cranny of your body. No, don’t blush, I am telling you some truths. This is just being ‘in love’, which any fool can do. Love itself is what is left over when being ‘in love’ has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident.’

Helen and Pete, the brand new Mr and Mrs walked out to showers of beautiful confetti- dried flower petals of burgundy, pink and navy. It smelt amazing for hours!

Reception drinks of hot Pimms and mixed beers were had in the Gallery, which was decorated with strings of fairy lights, while Photographer Leah Lombardi whisked the newly-weds away around the grounds (luckily it had stopped raining!). During this time, we transformed the barn from ceremony to reception and set out the tables, chairs and made all the final touches.

Hog And Apple had se the tables with chunky wooden boards at each place setting. Helen and Pete had created Wine and Fizz cork place name holders, with favors of individually wrapped Sarah Nelson’s Grasmere Gingerbread. Each table was named after a yeah from Helen and Pete’s lives, and their seating plan was a fantastic display of photos of each guest which was so lovely to see. Gin bottles of all descriptions were bursting with beautiful flowers and foliage.

Candles were dotted all through the room, with special attention to the lovely display created for loved ones who sadly couldn’t attend. Their cake table showcased the amazing LOVE letters created by Helen’s Father, and their delicious cakes, including a four-tiered cheese masterpiece!

Hog and Apple served up a feast of Antipasti sharing platters, Sous-Vide Beef with enormous Yorkshire Puddings and Dauphinois Potatoes, and Rhubarb Crumble and Custard to finish!

Helen’s father spoke of how magical the day was, how beautiful his daughter is, and Pete’s unshakable love for her. Pete’s Best Man, Michael told us what a fantastic buddy Pete is and how perfect he and Helen are together.

The fantastic Colour Blue from Jonny Ross Music entertained the guests all night while they danced, laughed and drank cocktails.

Congratulations to Helen and Pete, and we hope you have the most fantastic honeymoon in the Maldives.

The morning of Chris and Jasmine’s wedding was bright and fresh, the perfect winter’s day. Jasmine and her Bridesmaids were being pampered, while Chris and his Groomsmen were having a great morning, full of excitement, preparing for the day ahead! Jasmine’s Bridesmaids dresses were the most beautiful shade of deep purple, matched perfectly to our Bride’s bouquet of pure aubergine Calla lilies. The back of Jasmines gown was so intricately detailed and looked absolutely stunning on her. It’s no surprise there wasn’t a dry eye in the house when Jasmine’s dad saw her for the first time.

The tears continued in the wedding barn, with everyone shedding a tear as our Bride made her way to Chris at the end of the aisle. Chris’ dad got up to give his son a cuddle when he was emotional reading his vows which was such a lovely gesture.

Chris’ mum read a poem called ‘Marriage is Madness’

Caring and sharing and screaming and swearing
About being together whatever the weather
About being driven to the end of your tether
About sweetness and kindness
And wisdom and blindness

It’s about being wrong when you know you are right
It’s about giving in, before there’s a fight
It’s about you two living as cheaply as one

Never heeding advice that was always well meant
Never counting the cost until it’s all spent
And for you two today it’s about to begin
And for all that the two of you had to put in
Some days filled with joy, and some days with sadness
Too late you’ll discover that marriage is madness.

In the Gallery, where guests gathered for reception drinks, they were entertained by a huge selection of lawn games including chess, connect 4 and even a beanbag area.

The Wedding barn was incredibly cosy and super festive, with tealights, white flower stems and foliage on each table and lot soft twinkly lanterns lining the back wall creating a lovely glow. Each guest’s place setting was marked with a little gold bauble as a lovely keepsake to add to their tree each year.

Jasmine’s dad Jonathan said Hornington is such a special place for the joining of Jasmine and Chris it was an enormous privilege to be making his speech and he thought it was amazing to see so many people from far and wide. Hampshire, Scotland, Belgium, France, it’s surprising how far people will travel for a free meal! Jasmine such a strong-willed person, who has always been wise beyond her years and a fantastic daughter. She is also a traditionalist so was eagerly waiting to see his reaction today and make her dad cry when he saw her for the first time in her wedding gown.

Jasmine’s parents Jonathan and Karen have been married for 35 years and to keep marriage brimming with love, he shared a few words of advice with Chris- ‘whenever you are wrong, admit it, whenever you are right, shut up.’Jonathan shared a beautiful memory with all the guests and played a recording of Jasmine age 2 singing ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’, and recalled how he couldn’t wait to get home after working long hours to his lovely girls. As parents they used to sing “You are my sunshine” to a young Jasmine and he finished his speech with ‘You will always be our sunshine and you brighten our days. It is a privilege to be your dad’.

Jasmine and Chris met 14 years ago but their relationship started on the London Eye, fast forward to their 5th anniversary, Chris asked Jasmine to marry him. Chris tearfully thanked and attributed Jasmine’s wonderful traits to her fabulous parents. Chris thanked his mum for always being there for him and for teaching him to be dutiful and faithful.
Chris told his beautiful bride that she is one of the kindest people he has ever met and for better or worse Chris could not do better. You can live with anybody, but you marry the person you cannot live without.

We then heard from Megs, Jasmine’s sister. Jasmine was adopted at 8 months old and 3 years later they adopted Megs. She thanked her parents for bringing their family together and for her big sister. Megs turned to our Bride and said that she has loved every moment with her, she is very clumsy but is such a patient and inspirational big sister. Her family have taught them that love is unconditional and that there is always a solution to every problem.

Our couple’s fantastic photographer Ricard Perry captured every beautiful moment throughout the day, including Jonathan and Karen’s incredible dance and the most stunning evening shots as it started to rain. Is anyone else now hoping for rain on their wedding day!

Closest friends and family of the newlyweds enjoyed a relaxed Sunday playing board games, eating delicious food and snuggling in front of the fires in the Manor House which was just the most perfect cosy end to their dream wedding weekend.
