As the sun shone down on a beautiful June morning, Clare and David were both busy, excitedly getting ready for the best day of their lives! Clare is a pediatric nurse, and David a dermatologist, so their day to day lives are super hectic; their relaxed wedding weekend in the sunny North Yorkshire countryside couldn’t come soon enough!
After months and months of planning, Clare and David’s wedding vision became a reality as they set about decorating the Barn on Friday. The floral theme for their day was wildflowers and we think this might be our new favourite. The entrance to the barn was lined with gorgeous displays of beautiful blooms which just looked stunning. Wooden tree slices sat at the centre of each table, topped with jars filled with gorgeous pink peonies, freesias and delphiniums in pretty pinks and whites. Each guest was gifted a little packet of wild flower seeds ‘for Butterflies and Bees’ which they could sprinkle in their gardens when they got home.
Clare left for church in Sicklinghall in a beautiful vintage Jaguar with her dad Tom. She looked incredible in her capped sleeve gown with delicate collar beading. Her bouquet was gorgeous and continued the wild flower theme. Her hair was entwined with little flowers and finished with a lovely long veil.
Once the pair returned from church as Mr and Mrs Fairhurst, they headed straight to the lawn where we greeted them with Pimms in the sunshine. Clare and David explored the grounds with their amazing photographer Joe Stenson, and stumbled upon our gorgeous Angora goats and their babies.
When guests were ready to move into the Wedding Barn, they were greeted by an elegant seating plan designed to tie in with their wild flower theme. Clare’s dad Tom shared an emotions speech, telling us how proud he is of Clare, with a touching tribute to Clare’s mum Julia who sadly passed away.
David thanked his parents Margaret and Joe and all their guests for sharing their special day, especially those who had travelled from Australia, where Clare had lived for a few years, and Ireland, where many of Clare’s family live. While David did get himself a suit and choose the beer, he admitted that’s all he contributed to the planning, today was all down to Clare. David and Clare got engaged 18 months ago on a beech in Northumberland after moving from Manchester to Leeds to be with David. She makes him so happy and David is looking forward to their lives together.
Onto David’s Best Man and older brother Paul who was responsible for David’s Stag in Lisbon- a city of amazing culture, history and sights, which they didn’t see any of. Paul shared how, as children, the pair would randomly quote their favourite TV shows to each other, to their great hilarity which was lost on everyone else! This has continued into adulthood, something which he is sure Clare has learned to love…
Eat Me, Drink Me served up a beautiful feast of Roasted Chicken with Dauphinoise Potatoes, followed by a trio of puds- Pimms Jelly, Sticky Toffee Pudding and a rich Chocolate Pot. Clare and David shared their first dance to ‘Baby I Love You’ by the Ramones while Colour Blue from Jonny Ross Music entertained the guests and got everyone on the dancefloor!
As the sun set on a glorious day, we were so thrilled for Clare and David, the new Mr and Mrs Fairhurst, and wish them all the happiness in the world as they start the rest of their lives together.
